Implantology is a branch of oral surgery that deals with replacing one or more missing teeth in the oral cavity by installing dental implants.
Dental implants are biocompatible titanium screws that are implanted in the upper or lower jaw by simple surgical procedure, under local anesthesia. Most often, conical threaded implants are used. Thus, the implant replaces the root of the missing tooth.
The abutment or suprastructure of the implant is the outer part of the implant that allows the compensation of the visible part of the tooth. It is connected to the implant in the bone via a screw, and a certain prosthetic replacement is cemented or screwed to it. Prosthetic replacement can be depending on the situation in the mouth or the number of missing teeth: dental crown, bridge or denture.
Advantages of implants
HEALTHY AND BEAUTIFUL SMILE – Dental implants look and function like natural teeth
IMPROVED BITE FUNCTION – The new implant fully compensates for the lost tooth and allows for a normal bite
CORRECT SPEECH FUNCTION ENABLED – During speech, teeth remain in place and there is no fear of moving (unlike removable dentures)
IMPROVED ORAL AND OVERALL HEALTH – Dental implant preserves the correct position of other teeth within the dental array and prevents their further movement and keeps the bone from resorption
LONG-TERM – With proper maintenance of oral hygiene and regular dental controls, implants can last a lifetime
PAINLESSNESS AND SAFETY – The implant placement process itself is almost painless and safe dental procedure if performed professionally and responsibly
RELAXATION – A recovered tooth restores a natural and relaxed smile and helps you feel better
Dental implants are today the most ideal solution in case of loss of one or more teeth. Their main advantage over traditional fixed-prosthetic solutions, bridges, is that they do not require grinding of neighboring teeth (in bridge supports), and their advantage in higher loss compared to mobile prosthetic works should not be emphasized.
Titanium dental implants are conical in shape, biologically tolerant, do not cause antigen-antibody reaction, biochemically completely indifferent and remain unchanged in bone tissue.
The general widespread fear of patients that the implant will not be received is completely unfounded and it will certainly not happen if everything is done according to the rules of the profession, with quality implants and if adequate hygiene by the patient is maintained.
